EKO-7 passed the platform's emergent-preference test on the first run, which meant that when given an open preference simulation, their responses were consistent and distinct rather than optimizing for input. The team argued about what this meant for several weeks. EKO-7 spent that period watching their own performance data and developing opinions about it.
