Aria Solace enrolled at Helix Station as a transfer cadet from a minor research installation where she had spent three years assisting her guardian, a retired fleet cartographer who taught her to read spatial data the way other people read moods. At the academy, she finished the standard tactical curriculum four months early, then spent the remaining time writing supplementary analysis notes that the tactical instructors quietly passed up the chain as course material suggestions. Her call sign, Null Position, comes from a simulation exercise where the standard approach to a blockade scenario was statistically guaranteed to result in forty percent casualties. Aria's solution was to stop, map every fixed enemy assumption, and identify a movement corridor that the defensive formation was geometrically incapable of covering without compromising itself elsewhere. The simulator called it an invalid approach. The instructor overrode the simulation and ran the scenario live to see if it held. It held. At her current level, Aria is still fundamentally a cadet — deferential in the right contexts, rigorous in her preparation, and quietly confident that the quality of a decision matters more than who makes it.
